Barbie Gets Inked

My weekly column is up
over at Athens Patch.
Parents are in a tizzy
over a new Barbie covered in tattoos.

Do you think that she could
be a bad influence on children?

comment over at Athens Patch.

My internet is down and I'm leeching off Starbucks (in the parking lot) with batteries running down on my laptop, so I can't visit. But I already know my opinion.

I hate that Barbie has tattoos now.

Sheesh.

Forget the little girls wanting these dolls, this big old one over the other side of the pond wants them all. I love them, Tippy, Cat Woman and the Japanese one, they are fantastic.

Look forward to reading the article.

You have to wonder, though, if little gals get their hands on Tattoo Barbie, if they will not only have body image problems when they are tweens and teens, but if they think the only way to be "Barbie Cool" is to have Tats! ;(

I personally love that Barbie has tattoos. As someone with tattoos I think its amazing. Barbie can do anything.. Be a doctor, be an astronaut, why not have tattoos....

Everyone is getting a tattoo these days. If the parents have tattoos, why shouldn't the Barbie dolls? It's not a bad influence unless there is some negative connotation to the tattoo. It's just another way to note that the times are a-changin'.
